Hat's off to your last point... I have found that to be a major shift in
development mindset... In another life, before CF and Spectra, this sort of
planning was required. If it was not done, then the success and completion
of the product was at stake.
Back to the original point, I want to point out the Spectra can be thought
of as an investment in the future. For example, new ways of doing things on
the web are popping up all the time. That means in order for your site to
have all the bells and whistles, you constantly have to relearn and
potentially recode the inner 'bowels' of your systems to implement the
needed changes... Since Spectra is a framework/platform that we work off
of, changes and enhancements can be made (either by Allaire or outside
vendors) that we can pick up on immediately. Even without understanding all
that is going on underneath...

Hmmm, ok, I still kinda agree with you here. Maybe clumsy-1, not clumsy. ;)

You are correct here as well. We all know that in the real world, the powers
that be tend to like things done very quickly. But, one thing Spectra does
is make my 'code' work much easier. I look at it like this, in the past, the
total time to complete a project was made up of:
20-30% planning
70-80% 'code' work (ie, real work)
Under Spectra, I spend more time planning, but the product is SO powerful, I
save a LOT of time on the coding side. In the end, the result is less time.
At least for me it is. ;)
