This is most likely due to limitations of the Verity license.

Ah, the joys of clustering. I was wondering if you would be able to help us
with the following problem:
We are trying to move our Verity collections to a remote machine so that we
can cluster our Spectra application, however we have come across some very
serious problems when trying to do so. If I use CF administrator to try to
set up a collection on a remote drive using a Windows UNC name (e.g. create
collection test on \\machinename\sharename1) and then try to index files
which are also on a remote drive (e.g. \\machinename\sharename2) then I get
the following error:

However, this works fine for a) a local collection indexing local files b) a
local collection indexing remote files and c) a remote collection indexing
local files.
We have also found a similar error occurs when trying to create some Spectra
type indexes:

The error occurred while processing an element with a general identifier of
(CFINDEX), occupying document position (53:3) to (62:3) in the template file

ATE.CFM

and that once this error has occurred once, no more type collections can be
created (even once we've deleted all the original collections) unless we
stop and restart all the Coldfusion services. We are using CF 4.51 and
Spectra 1.01 on NT.
