My company is a Systems Integrator for both Broadvision and Spectra.
I might be able to explain some of the differences.
Architecture:
Broadvision's architecture is very complicated due to its legacy.
Spectra's architecture is that of the standard application server.
Language:
Broadvision uses JavaScript. They also call their JavaScript Pages JSP's,
which confuses JavaServer Pages people.
Spectra uses CFML.
Time to Implement:
Broadvision is very labor intensive. Most sites are more than six months and
have $1+ Million budgets.
Spectra sites are 30% faster and considerably less in cost.
Features:
Both have personalization and e-commerce capabilities, although they are
built-in a bit more on the Broadvision side. Content management on the
Spectra side is considerably easier.
