I think we will have to wait and see what the future is. As long as we hope
and pray that it does not incorporate Flash into its interface! uuurggh.
In all honesty, where can you see the future going with it? With their
other products, Allaire [had] have a fantastic web presence thru Studio,
Homesite and CF. But with Spectra they have[had] something different and
special that had great promise.
My personal fear is that <MM> will leave it behind, <MM>'s great strength is
the way its products merge (no pun intended, honestly) to form a suite of
products - where will, and can Spectra fit into this? It does not have a
wide user base and no real "oomph" which CF has buily up over the years ;
however great it is. Look at it this way - for <MM> Surely personalisation
will be handled with Likeminds, and customer behavior online with generated
e-business reports will be done by Aria? Maybe they will be intergrated
into Spectra and add to its already bloated price tag.
If Spectra is going to succeed it needs to be able to be openly accessed by
Dreamweaver/Studio etc maybe as some Dreamweaver hybrid - Dreamweaver
Spectra Studio for instance?
Best move? For Spectra to be given away for free as a development platform
(bind the user base into one, much like FB has tried) Best scenario
methinks.
I let the community decide.
