Thanks, Simon.  I am using 1.5.  I've not done what you describe but I've managed to 
get it working since.  I'll keep what you said in mind, though.

I actually got another response off list from Allaire citing Raymond Camden's fix for 
this particular problem.  It's an apparent bug.

Also, I'd enabled application security globally.  That prevented objects from 
displaying when I'd not logged in.  When I disabled the security and applied the fix, 
it worked fine.  I think my problem was a combination of those factors.

Hi Tom,

Are you using Spectra 1.5?

If you are and you have created your own display handler for your CO Type make sure 
you have added the keyword "display" to the metadata field for your display handler in 
your CO Type's edit screen.

I believe Spectra 1.5 will not display using your display handler unless the handler's 
metadata keyword is set.
