True, you can't get passwords out of the NT Domain, and you shouldn't be
able to. Imagine the implications.... unscrupulous developer (UD) sets up a
page @ intranet.allaire.com, Jeremy logs in, UD then uses the cgi.auth_user
variable and a com object (if one existed) to grab his NT password ... UD
then proceeds to find out everything and anything that he's probably not
supposed to see. Could be fun!
But going back to what Jason mentioned earlier...maybe there's some merit to
creating a Spectra userdirectory, an SQL database let's say, with no
passwords. I think the whole point of this thread is that people want to
use NT users & groups and don't want to have to have users log in twice.
Maybe you could use the CFX_USERS tag
(http://www.intrafoundation.com/ihtkdocs/users/docs/index.htm) to get all
your NT users, import them into a sql db with no passwords on a daily basis
to keep the two (your SQL Userdirectory and your NT Users) synched and then
use the SQL DB as your Spectra UD... I'm sure we could all pokes holes in
this but it's worth investigating if for no other reason that it's a mind
bender.
