Ed,

Have you attached the User Directory to the Security Context in CF
Administrator? From the Advanced Security Page, click the Security Context
button, and then your sc2 context on the next page, and then click the User
Directory button on the page after. Make sure that your new User Directory
is under the Current Directories box.

Also, make sure that you've set up your User Directory correctly - check
that you've put the correct username/password details etc on the ODBC
Datasource pages, and also in the User Directory property page in the
Advanced Security section. It should do this last step automatically but
sometimes not.

And finally, ensure that you've created the relevant section for your new
User Directory in the file \cfusion\bin\smdsquery.ini file. Just copy the
UserDirectory section and rename it to your new user directory.

And throw in a restart of the CF/SiteMinder services for good measure.

Don't you just love the documentation!

Phil

Subject: <cfa_authenticate> only works for directories where DSN called
UserDirectory

We are using Spectra 1.5 on Cold Fusion 4.5 SP2. From what we can gather, it
appears that the tag will only authenticate against a user directory that
use a DSN called "UserDirectory".

We have created a new security context (SC2) with a new directory
(SalesDirectory) pointing to a new DSN (SalesDirectory), which in turns
points to a database called sales.mdb. We can't seem to authenticate against
that table unless we configure the SalesDirectory to use the DSN called
UserDirectory, which we point to the sales.msb (instead of the default
userdirectory.mdb) In a nutshell, the only time we can get the
<cfa_authenticate> to work against a given security context is when it has a
directory which points to a DSN called "UserDirectory".

It seems like there's some hard coded reference to the UserDirectory DSN,
but we can't put our finger on it.

Has anybody else seen this problem? Can anybody else replicate this problem?
