I meant to say... It looks like request.cfa.activeuser is not getting
populated...
Did not know if originator of the question was using LDAP or not.
If they are not LDAP it should work.
If they are LDAP yes the value of activeuser will be different then from
AuthenticatedUser().

AuthenticatedUser() is *not* the same as request.cfa.activeuser when you
have LDAP user directories. So that does not work.
