I would suggest trying the Oracle ODBC driver....
If your using Microsoft's ODBC driver, they do not support CLOBS.
You should be using the Oracle version of the ODBC driver.

We are currently running Oracle 8.1.5. With this version of oracle we have
problems with updating the CLOB fields. The release notes of Spectra 1.5 say
that the versions 8.1.6 or 8.1.7 are supported.
Does anyone know what the differences are between the .5 and higher versions
of Oracle and if the problem with updating the CLOB fields is 'fixed' in
this version?
