hi,
i also encountered a similar kind of a situation ..
I downloaded and installed the trial versions of Cold Fusion 5 and
Spectra
1.5.1 on a windows 2000 server. The basic design of the page is as
follows:
1) The page template is made up of only body and footer templates. I
did
this since we are planning to have a common template throughout the
site
and I felt that if I include a header template also I will be
resrticted in
setting <TITLE> and <META> tags for specific pages.
2) The basic page design is all content comes within a (3 row x 2 col)
table. In the top row the columns of the table are spanned to contain
a Top
DHTML Menu. In the second row the left col is 25% width and contains
a menu
followed by a search box and site map link. The next column contains
the
actual content of the site and the width is 75%. Finally the 3rd row
in the
table contains the footer.cfm content which is the contact info and
copyright message.
3) In the design the Top menu in the first row and the left side menu
and
right side content in the 2nd row are in 3 seperate menus and the
footer is
formed from a footer.cfm as explained. Only the Search box is part of
the
static portion of the page.
Now the problem is that when I created the page with this design and
put
content into the containers the page does not always display and
sometimes
the content seems to have failed to be retreived from the CODB. The
content
itself that I am putting into the containers is just plain static
html code
that I insert using ewebeditpro in 'Insert HTML' mode. It appears
once with
all the content properly and when I call the page again from the
browser
all the content that comes from the continer is missing.
I know this is not a limitation with the eval software. I was using a
different machine before and tried this out on Netscape Enterprise
server
and did not face this problem. But since that hard disk crashed I now
am
using another machine with Win 2000 and IIS 5. Is there any problems
with
this combo?
Please point me to any resources that will offer me insight into this
situation. I tried looking up the Knowledge Base but did not find any
solutions or explanations.
Thanks for your patience and also in advance for any assistance
joshila
