Okay, now I feel like a little whine so here goes..... Just looking back at the list and noticing a hell of a lot off - Bug in this, Bug in that - and a whole lot of excuses/fixes and promises with regards to them....
Dont you think for a 'final' product the actual application should have at least a base set of tools and tags which are guaranteed to work? Okay Spectra **IS** a ColdFusion application and as Ray and co quite rightly put it in the book - probably the most complex you are ever like to see but it just seems like Spectra/or the CF app that it is; is being Beta tested on an ongoing basis.... While I admire the Community Source License, I do not agree in asking for a truckload of $+�'s for a product which essentially COULD BE built to be [a] more robust and tested by MM, [b] or actually built by the community itself (as it is a CF app) and is being forwarded by them alone i.e no more feature releases coming from MM. I am all for paying for software where a s-house has spent millons on development, but in this case for your dosh you get a website for fixes which MM see fit to be included and some support for a limited time.... doesnt really trade-off. Spectra has been my godsend for the past 1+ years but when you look at it this way - tweaks and twiddles are always needed here and there and for the HUGE cost it isnt really fair..... (theres my whinge....) Look at the sparsity of the Developers Exchange for Spectra - there is hardly anything....!! Also think how many developers could add on features etc... that may not be the kind of thing MM wants but other developers may - MM are trying to keep Spectra in the mould as they first envisaged it - where it is more likely to survive and get stonger by releasing a "base" app to which Developers could patch on things as and when needed or required. The way you have to pass the MM code police is detrimental to the whole Spectra ethos IMHO. Please, Please, Please make the current release of Spectra either way cut price or free........:-) !!!
