Seth, Although it is not Spectra per se, look for a new version of UltaDev/Dreamweaver (and perhaps flash?) that will have this capability with NEO's COAPI/Component architecture. This is of course only what I have heard through the grapevine and nothing official.
People have done this with SilverStream and Vignette (sorry I don't have any references on this). They wrote extentions for Dreamweaver to do this.
