Dear all,

I was wondering how everybody is faring in the sales department. I just had
a negative from a potential customer that said that we came out number one
in all respects. The only reason they don't want to move forward is because
of the continuing unclarity of the way Spectra will be integrated into CF.

As I understand it sales of Spectra has never been stronger in Europe.
Apparently, most of us manage to convince customers by the sheer quality of
the package and the fact that there is no credible alternative in the same
price range. However, many of us probably miss as many opportunities because
of the whole discontinuation story.

I'm just wondering:
* how are sales figures in Europe now compared to before the decision to
discontinue?
* If, as I assume, they are in fact better, is this a ground for Macromedia
to reconsider the move?
* What parts, exactly, will become part of CF and how? I think the time has
come to put some cards on the table.

I won't start crying about the whole frustration of it all. Believe me, it's
there. What I would like is some input. Raymond, is there nobody at
Macromedia that is looking at sales figures and sais "hmm, that's funny"? Is
there anything we can say about Spectra and Cold Fusion that is not shrouded
in maybe's and diplomatic evasion?

I'm not sure I will be at the DevCon. All the anthrax and bombing stuff is a
bit scary. Otherwise I would love to have discussed it in person. That's why
I put it to you now.

Just to make sure: this is not one of these bash Macromedia and Spectra
mails. I'm genuinly interested in answers.

Kind regards,

Marc Schipperheyn
