I know that we've successfully run Advanced Security against SQL Server
2000, though. It's been a while, so I don't remember the exact details, but
we did run into the problem documented in the KB and were able to resolve
it. Here's what I'd try:

1. First, if you've already installed MDAC 2.6, download and install the
latest release version, which is MDAC 2.7 RTM.
2. If you haven't, you might simply try connecting with 2.5 SP2 - after all,
you only have to install MDAC 2.6 on the machine running SQL Server. I'm not
sure you need 2.6 simply to connect to an SQL Server 2000 machine.
