A silly question: Is there any reason to keep the Ektron editor "inside" Spectra? I have upgraded to 2.5 for its improved CSS handling. I've abandoned the Spectra tag in favor of Ektron's own custom tag. So far, it appears to work fine.

Spectra OEMs the Ektron technology, as it does Verity and Netegrity. In general you do not get free upgrades of OEM technology as part of a release. Ektron, however, has gone beyond what was required and offered Spectra customers free upgrades. As of 2.5, however, they will begin charging for upgrades.
