Folks,

Have been holding out for a while as we are not quite ready to go public
with our stuff. However, given the ongoing discussion on the future of
Spectra and the release of open source code snippets i thought i might
pitch in with a note on what we are doing at Daemon.

We've been working with Spectra since the earliest beta's and have built
significant business on the construction of Spectra based solutions.
During that time we have amassed a library of code that replaces much of
the native Spectra code and enhanced several services.

Much of this code is a little too deeply embedded in the custom solution
that we deliver to be of much use to the general Spectra dev population.
However, what suitable code we do have we are releasing under open
source license (Daemon Public License v1).

We are currently in the process of documenting these features and
preparing them for distribution.

Why are we doing this crazy thing?

Well apart from the standard ego-centric-come-altruistic reasons many
developers do this sort of stuff, we want to promote interest in our
open source project to build a COAPI for the NEO platform. To be blunt,
we are looking to move away from our dependence on the Spectra platform
to a Spectra-esque COAPI that is actively developed, and is open source.

Given that NEO is not released and we are unable to discuss aspects of
our internal project that relate to things under NDA don't expect much
on this front just now. If you have an interest in at least following
what we are up to, feel free to register on one of our mailing lists.

What we'd like to share first is our caching code, Cachitron 2.0.
Without waxing lyrically here I'll let you find out more for yourselves at:
http://necromedia.daemon.com.au/navajo/display.cfm?OBJECTID=5730ED93-4A02-423A-A9C642B86F349EFD

If you use it - let us know how you go!

The site is in beta... so forgive the "grey build" nature of the look
and expect some frequent changes.

Best regards,
