I would consider the performance improvements in CF5 to be well worth the change. I'd suggest you do a fresh install from Spectra 1.5 or higher. I ran into problems trying to install 1.0 then applying the various patches/upgrades. With Spectra 1.5.1, it was a smooth install. Believe it or not.
