Tim,

Thanks for the links.

The problem is not that we can't download the 1.5.1 version - it is just
that the Spectra 1.0 serial number (specifically, SP10NT-0233120554) does
not work to install 1.5.1 - it requires a 1.5 serial number.

It is now not possible to upgrade a 1.0 to 1.5 - hence 1.0 users are locked
in a warp in upgrade space :(

We have 5 Spectra licenses - 4 x 1.5 and 1 x 1.0 - Solaris and NT. In
addition, we have sold a number of Spectra's to clients and continue to
maintain and support these sites.

The withdrawal of the product has hurt future sales (clearly) and upgrade
work for existing sites. The tragedy is that the Spectra framework is still
popular with our developers and key clients. We have not been able to find
a suitable replacement. If development and marketing had continued I
believe that Spectra would have built a pre-eminent position as a
significant web application platform.

If Spectra were to re-emerge, we would get behind the new version from a
sales and development perspective.

If the source were to be released, we would actively participate in
maintenance and extension.

Subject: Future of Spectra

Is there anything that can be said, publicly, about the future of Spectra?

I sent some comments, via email but did not sign up for the conference call.

Would be most interested in:

1) Licensing model
2) Security model
3) Ability to extend or change the Webtop interface (rather than ignore it)
4) Access to source if support is withdrawn

I also pointed out that Spectra 1.0 users have no migration path (as 1.5 is
nolonger available).

Any scraps of information would be gratefully received.
