To anyone who knows what needs to be done-

I am trying to install the opensource version of spectra on Solairs 8.
This has been very difficult to accomplish as the installer was writting
to be use in Windows environment. However, I have been told that the final
product of Spectra can work with many databases. I am trying to use MySQL
as the backend database, but have has little to no success.

So far, I have read in the source code for Spectra's installer, and found
that there are called being made to the registry for an odbc list of
connections. If Spectra uses odbc to connect to its backend database, then
I am starting to think that there is no easy way for installing Spectra on
a Solaris machine.

My questions:

Does anyone know if the installed product of Spectra use odbc on a regular
basis?
Does anyone know if there is a major or minor difference between using
odbc on Windows and Solaris?

and

Is there anyone else out there who wants to do what I am doing ? or have
done this already?
