Dear friends, In the next in the series of Tesla events, we will hear about Auditory Seismology from seismologist Professor Florian Dombois, Head of the Institute for Transdisciplinarity (Y) [www.hkb.bfh.ch/y] at Berne (Switzerland) University of the Arts. In "Auditory Seismology" an introduction to audification will be given as an unusual method of data display, here applied to seismological data. How can we listen to the earth's tectonic activity? What do we hear? And what does this listening mean in terms of research? What is influence of the computer? What are the scientific and the artistic expectations to a work done in the area? The talk will give some theoretical background and several examples of "Art as Research" to listen to and talk about.
