[1] SHARE.MOBILE BERLIN at CTM.07

// January 29 & 30, 2007
// Maria am Ostbahnhof

On Monday Jan. 29th and Tuesday Jan.30st CTM’s second floor will turn into SHARE.MOBILE BERLIN – a giant collective audio-visual jam, set up by activists from SHARE and open for all comers. Bring your own gear and plug in.

The idea of SHARE has been developed in New York in 2001 by Barry Manalog, Rich Panciera, Geoff Matters, and Daniel Smith. Today, SHARE is a worldwide community that opens up new spaces for audio/visual performance. At a multitude of local meeting points from New York to Australia to Sweden, SHARE members provide a venue in their communities to welcome walk-in performers, offering an open-mixer system for video and audio that allows participants patch their equipment into the multi-channel system, allowing everyone to contribute. Would-be participants are encouraged to bring any portable equipment they like to pug-in for open jams, not only laptops, but drum machines and grooveboxes, keyboards, gameboys, guitar pedals, cassette decks, circuits, microphones, projectors, lightboxes, LEDs etc. Sessions are open to any and all, and everyone is encouraged to share ideas and give feedback, creating an open and constructive atmosphere: a sound workshop where people can trade, talk and listen. SHARE reflects a new sociology of performance by creating a participant-centred event.

The two day SHARE.MOBILE during CTM.07 brings together SHARE- activists from various locations around the globe: Elsa Vieira, Daniel Vatsky, Eric Redlinger, Daniel Smith, Anton Marini and Keiko Uenishi from SHARE NYC; Marie-Hélène Parant from SHARE Montréal, Chris Noelle from SHARE Berlin (currently in its founding process), Péter Szabó and Alexandra Szeleznyeva from the SHARE group in Budapest, Chris Schuerholz from SHARE in Wiesbaden and others.

Wireless-LAN for file-exchange and communication is provided. Volunteering community members – so called SHARE-heads – take care of the technical infrastructure and will assist you setting up your gear.

Everyone interested to participate, please register till January 28th by email:

[2] SHARE GLOBAL MEETING

// January 30, 2007
// Maria am Ostbahnhof

This meeting of SHARE-activists from around the globe is not only aimed at people who already engage in one of the SHARE communities – it’s for newbies too, people who are considering starting-up their own SHARE chapter, and everyone else who is interested. Presentations will introduce the concept and ideas behind SHARE and give first hand instructions for how to set up a regular SHARE event in your own community. The meeting provides the ideal platform to meet, exchange, extend networks, gather knowledge and find likeminded people for future collaboration and projects.

[3] CREATIVE COMMONS LECTURE

// January 29, 2007
// Maria am Ostbahnhof

Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that offers alternatives to full copyright. They have released several copyright licence models for intellectual property, known as Creative Commons Licenses, which are playing an increasing role in the work of electronic communities such as SHARE. The licenses give all creators of intellectual work, including artists and musicians, extended legal possibilities to share their work in a self-determined way by restricting only some, or none, of the rights. This presentation will outline the various licences and give insight into the philosophy behind them. The recently founded German chapter of the organization will introduce the basic concepts behind the controversies surrounding copyright, intellectual property, mechanical rights and hand-over arguments, and also explore the requirements for a strong and vital public domain of ideas and information.

[4] PROFESSIONAL MEETING

// January 28, 2007
// Maria am Ostbahnhof

Exchange and networking with likeminded initiatives and festivals from around the world has been a substantial element within the CTM festival over the past years. This professional meeting provides a platform for international festival organizers and music promoters to make first contacts and inform each other and the audience about their organisation, its projects and intentions. The meeting is open to the public. A number of festival organisers will present their work in short lectures.

The professional meeting is initiated by the first international E.C.A.S. (European Cities of Advanced Sound) meeting, which is hosted by DISK – Sound & Image Initiative during CTM.07. E.C.A.S. is a long- term project proposed by Nuproductions, the organizers behind Numusic Festival in Stavanger, Norway, and aims to become a Trans-European platform for intercultural dialogue in the arts, more specifically within soundart, new music and related visual arts. Its aim is to formalise a network between those cities and organisations that currently support an annual „non profit“ independent new music and soundart festival. Although E.C.A.S focusses on partner organisations from Europe, the professional meeting is not limited geographically and open to presenters and participants from all over the world.

[1] SHARE.MOBILE BERLIN beim CTM.07

// 29. & 30. Januar 2007
// Maria am Ostbahnhof

Januar per Email an:

[3] CREATIVE COMMONS LECTURE

// 29. Januar 2007
// Maria am Ostbahnhof

[4] PROFESSIONAL MEETING

// 28. Januar 2007
// Maria am Ostbahnhof

// 15. – 19.1.2007
// General Public, Schönhauser Allee 167c (U2 Senefelder Platz)
