+ DETAILS / WHAT IS:

+ REMAKE
We are looking for artistically challenging projects and artworks INSPIRED BY PIONEERING experimental pieces of (new) media art history in different European countries. Use of digital technologies is not a crucial requirement. Submitted works do not have to be explicit and literal REMAKEs of older pieces, but should present an innovative, up-to-date approach to the particular historical artistic concepts / works.

+ NEW MEDIA ART
„New media art is a genre that encompasses artworks created with new media technologies, including digital art, computer graphics, computer animation, virtual art, Internet art, interactive art technologies, computer robotics, and art as biotechnology.“ (Wikipedia)

+ REMAKE PROJECT
The REMAKE - REthinking Media Artworks in C(K)ollaborative Environments project is building upon MONOSKOP, a collaborative research on media art and culture in Europe, conducted in the recent years. Monoskop examines the social context of historical developments in media arts in Europe (with special focus on Central and Eastern Europe). Its analysis of sociopoetic conditions of art and technology crossings from 1960s to 2000s draws upon the undertakings in experimental and avantgarde film, performance art, computer art, video art, experimental music, sound art, and media theory. The project (2010-2012) is supported by the Culture program of the European Union. Monoskop research: http://www.burundi.sk/monoskop/index.php/Media_art_in_Central_and_Eastern_Europe

MULTIPLACE
Multiplace is a decentralized network of people and organisations interested in interaction between media, technologies, art, culture and society. Network activities culminate every year into the festival, that is happening parallely at several locations in the world. Its program is open to workshops, installations, discussions, concerts, performances, exhibitions, presentations, screenings and especially new forms of creativity. Original focus on the new media culture has been evolving since 2002 and besides the technological aspect of digital media in art, the focus shifted also to questions related to its aesthetical, social, cultural, legal and political issues.
