November 2012, um 18 Uhr im Edith-Russ-Haus für Medienkunst / today, Thursday, November 29, 2012, 6 p.m. at the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art Emma Wolukau-Wanambwa arbeitet in einem weiten Feld künstlerischer Medien wie Installationen, Klang, Video, Fotografie, Druckgrafik und Zeichnung. Jüngste Ausstellungsbeteiligungen waren KM 500.5 (Kunsthalle Mainz), das erste Kampala Contemporary Art Festival (Kampala, Uganda), I Like Inside, O Like Outside (Wien Internationales Film Festival) und Chewing the Scenery (Schweizer Off-Site Pavillion, 54. Internationale Biennale, Venedig). Sie ist zur Zeit Forschungsmitglied an der Makarere University in Kampala, Stipendiatin an der Universität der Künste Berlin und Gastprofessorin an der Carl von Ossietzky Universität, Oldenburg. In diesem Zusammenhang führt sie den Workshop Invisible Lines am Edith-Russ-Haus für Medienkunst mit Studierenden durch. Heute Abend wird sie vor allem über ihr laufendes Forschungsprojekt On Houses and Death sprechen - eine künstlerische Untersuchung der sich verändernden Beziehung zwischen dem Land, der Bebauung und dem Körper im zeitgenössischen Uganda. Der Eintritt ist frei! ************************************************************** Emma Wolukau-Wanambwa works in a wide range of media, including installation, sound, video, photography, printmaking and drawing. Recent exhibitions and screenings include: KM 500.5 (Kunsthalle Mainz, Germany), the first Kampala Contemporary Art Festival (Kampala, Uganda), I Like Inside, O Like Outside (Vienna International Film Festival, Austria) and Chewing the Scenery (Swiss Off-Site Pavillion, 54th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale die Venezia, Italy). Emma is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Heritage, Conservation & Restoration at Makerere University Kampala, Uganda, and a Fine Art Researcher at the Jan van Eyck Academie (Netherland). She has recently joined the Graduate School for Arts & Sciences at the University of the Arts, Berlin (Germany) and is currently working as a guest professor at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, where she is doing the workshop Invisible Lines with sutdents. This evening Emma will mainly be talking about her ongoing research project On Houses and Death - an artistic investigation of the changing relationship between the land, the building and the body in contemporary Uganda.
