Konzeptkünstler Manuel Saiz in Berlin.
mega-budgetiertes Meta-Projekt, markiert „Train Time Zeit Zug“ den dringend
„Train Time Zeit Zug“: Kontinentale

A preview to this year’s edition of the Werkleitz Festival Spanish concept
artist Manuel Saiz will give in Berlin. At Z-Bar’s Z-inema he shows his film
documentary „TTZZ Train Time Zeit Zug“ in which he develops an artistic vision
which is – in the full sense of the festival theme Utopien vermeiden (Avoiding
Utopias) – bound to fail.
He aims to build a 2400 km circular high-speed train track in central Europe
crossing Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium and The Netherlands. A convoy
running at 200 km/h will need 12 hours to cover the circle. Its movement will
act as an art installation, a continental dimension clock, a tourist attraction
and as a symbol of the European identity.
A mega budget meta project, „TTZZ
Train Time Zeit Zug“ carves out a much needed space for discussion between our
present and the possible. If from the perspective of politicians, the public,
privileged passengers or crew, we can ask where are we going, and at what cost.
„TTZZ Train Time Zeit Zug“: continental infrastructure driven by culture, by
reflection, by dialogue, not commerce, conflict or communications. „Train Time
Zeit Zug“ is a documentary about the hypothetical construction of this project,
its interests and its drawbacks, its absurdity and its prudence.
A site-specific version, „TTZZ Train Time Zeit Zug – Halle Test Track“, will
be presented at the 20th anniversary of Werkleitz Gesellschaft in Halle (Saale).
