Videonale im Kunstmuseum Bonn, February 21 - 23, 2019
With the theme of REFRACTED REALITIES, the 17th edition of the Videonale
pursues the question of how and with what means realities are
constructed and distributed today. What possibilities do media in
general and artistic media in particular have at their disposal to
critically engage with their own role in forming opinions and shaping
the public? What artistic strategies are currently being developed to
enable alternative views and integrate new perspectives? How does one
get one’s bearings in the data floods of the World Wide Web, and how do
these data
impact our daily activities both in virtual and real space?
What options and necessities for action result from these insights? The
relationship between science, everyday technology, and art are
established time and time again in a target way so as to point to new,
meaningful perspectives for future developments.
In a variety of event formats, including lectures, panels, and
performances, as well as workshops and video screenings, the thematic
focus on REFRACTED REALITIES is to be elucidated as comprehensively and
diversely as possible.
