“The Other Citizen” by Brandon LaBelle narrates the emergence of communities in
movement, those shaped by neighbourhood initiatives in Athens, solidarity
economies of Jackson, acts of ecological care seeking. The Other Citizen is
figured as a network, a poetic act, one that comes to reconstitute notions of
kinship and what counts as rightful presence. The reading from the recently
published book (of the same title) by the artist guides us into a scene of
collaborative making, composed along with a recording from a workshop LaBelle
co-facilitated in Santiago de Chile in 2019, focusing on community and
collective improvisation. With: Ana María Briede, Mónica Bate, Federico Eisner,
Gregorio Fontaine, Andrés Grumann, Matías Serrano, Bárbara Molina, Jessica
Figueroa, Ignacia Biskupovic, Fernando Pérez Villalón, Brandon LaBelle, Soledad
García Saavedra, Mauricio Barría, Carla Ansaldi, Sybil Bintrup, Samuel Ibarra,
Josefina de la Maza, Agustín González, Mabel Olea, Aurora Eisner, Sofía Downey,
and more.

at around 20:00 CEST
“Sound transmission and listening: challenges of the present”. A discussion
between Anna Bromley, Roberto Paci Dalo, Eleftherios Krysalis, Hardi Kurda,
Prof. Nathalie Singer and Prof. Christiane Voss. Originally broadcast as part
of the experimental radio week shift.fm <http://shift.fm/> by
Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. In a time of pandemic when radio radio shows and
podcasts have become an essential factor and carrier of cultural and political
content, the discussion focussed on sound transmission, radio and the changes
of the listening situation. The future and the always changing present are
creating new possibilities and challenges. The work of Kurdish sound artist and
composer Hardi Kurda, usmaradio, bauhaus.fm <http://bauhaus.fm/> and the past
of sound art and radio in connection with political movements provide different
points of departure and perspectives for the conversation.
