We started the series of screensavers called “Blind Visions” with the theme of
extractivism in the work of the Serbian artist Vladan Jolelr called “New
Extractivism”. This artist, together with Kate Crawford, an eminent researcher
in the field of artificial intelligence and its impact, worked on the topic of
artificial intelligence through a case study of the “Amazon Echo” device in the
work “Anatomy of an AI system” as an uncovering of the hidden infrastructures
behind the appealing and almost magical-looking voice interface. With practices
of extraction and exploitation in digital environments, we also conclude the
“Blind Visions” series. “The Hidden Life of an Amazon User” by artist and
researcher Joana Moll is an explicit commentary on the extraction of data in
the digital environment by transnational corporations, here also specifically
