Fred,

I am running a test lab instance of Spectrum on VMs (one VM for the SS,
One for OneClick). They are not very beefy VM instances, but seem to
run fine (8.1 SP1). Then again, there are not a lot of devices modeled
either.

I get much better performance (as evidenced when opening tools like ECM)
on the standalone server vs. the VMs. Personally, I will fight to keep
our production Spectrum on dedicated servers, and not put them on VMs,
based on the semi-empirical data of experience with my test box vs. my
production environment.

For a test environment, the VMs are fine, but I'd never use them in
production, at least with the current capabilities of our VM farm.

FWIW

Subject: [spectrum] Very simple question re: VMWare

Does anyone out here have their SpectroSERVER & OneClick Servers running
on VMWare slices?

If yes, have you seen any performance issues with ArchMgr (especially
ArchMgr disconnects when running reports)?

Or are you running Spectrum (SS & OC) on separate servers with dedicated
hardware (not virtual)?

Please advise as I have an issue open with CA already, but am interested
in how the "rest of the world" has Spectrum deployed.

Thanks.
