It might be a way to do it. I am not sure if it will work but I do have
a test SpectroServer.

I had a look at "template.dbc" file from <SPECROOT>\SS-Tools and what I
found there made me think that DBconv might be used to change the model
type.

Have a look yourself at that file.

I intend to test this on my "sandbox" and see what I can get.

Unfortunately, next week I will go on holiday for one month and I'm not
sure I can complete the tests until then. Anyway - I will try.

No, you have to delete and rediscover, cause everything in Spectrum is
based on model types, and you cannot simple change model type for device
and trigger all other changes,it's too complicated.
