Rob,
Having 8.1 and 9.1 together is the process that we follow.

In our environment we have fault tolerant SpectroSERVERs and multiple
OneClick servers. There are multiple groups of these all in the same
distributed environment. Our process is to take each group individually
then:

Ask the users to log into the OneClick server running report manager (just
an alternate OC server).
Upgrade a non-report manager OneClick server
Upgrade all the primary SpectroSERVERs in the group.

Ask the users if they like what they see. If they say ok then
Upgrade all the secondary SpectroSERVERs in the group
Upgrade the report manager OneClick server (can take a long time so we do it
last).

That way we can have the 8.1 environment running while we are doing the 9.1
so we don¹t loose any visibility on alarms.

One other thing is that we take the first SpectroSERVER that we upgrade and
make it the Main Location Server (MLS) for the 9.1 environment. Then as we
upgrade SpectroSERVERs we repoint them to the 9.1 MLS and remove them from
the 8.1 MLS. That way we don¹t share landscape maps between 8.1 and 9.1.

Subject: [spectrum] Upgrading 8.1 ->9.1

Quick question:

I can't find it in the documentation: When upgrading from 8.1 to 9.0 (+
9.1), is it OK to have the fault tolerant 8.1 SpectroServer up running
during the install of the primary SpectroServer or will it result in
problems?

disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some
believed that we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect

through misery and suffering. So the perfect world we dreamed, but your
primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why The Matrix was
redesigned to this...the peak of your civilization."
