IT Engineer - Infrastructure Administrator (Contract to Hire) Job Function: This position is for an application admin/engineer for the IT Infrastructure monitoring tools team. As a team member you are responsible for overall engineering and operational support for the IT Infrastructure tools including but not limited to architecture, engineering, implementation and day to day support for the applications that monitor and report on our data centers and labs. Skills/Experience: - Knowledge of ITIL, Service Management and software implementation projects, focusing on monitoring and event management: - Act as a subject matter expert in planning, implementing and integrating IT monitoring and performance reporting tools - Have experience with administering and supporting CA Spectrum and with at least one of the following tools: CA eHealth, Splunk, HP/Mercury BAC/Sitescope, RUM, Diagnostics, BPM,Vugen,Wily Introscope and CEM, MS MOM, SCOM 2007, Prognosis, or numerous other off the shelf and home grown monitoring/reporting tools. - Strong Network knowledge - SNMP, SSH, WMI, TCP/IP protocols, routing protocols, Firewalls/DMZs, Layer2 stack, various networking hardware and capabilities - Understanding of various network and application architectures and technologies (able to communicate with enterprise architects) - Demonstrate working knowledge of different flavors of Unix (Solaris, Linux) and Windows System Administration skills, capable of communicating and designing solutions with sysadmins about monitoring and to get around in OS, install products, etc - Database admin skills - Oracle, MS SQL, MYSQL - capable of communicating and designing solutions with DBA about monitoring of databases - Scripting - perl, shell, and vbscript - need to be able to create, read scripting, edit, and reuse. - Middleware/J2EE - Websphere, Weblogic, Jboss, JMX protocol - Familiar with Web Services and XML - Participate in ongoing processes to diagnose the internal and external environments and act accordingly. - Improve the customers' experiences by understanding and focusing on what's important. - Excellent follow-through. Ensure that you are accountable for and effectively executing day-to-day and strategic responsibilities. - Continuously assess and improve processes within your scope, including the impact on upstream and downstream groups, and recommend improvements in processes you and the team interact with and taking them to fruition). - Must work well in a team oriented environment. Be willing to ask questions and also help others when asked. Strong verbal and written communication skills Responsibilities Experience in BSM, centralized event management tools and performance dashboards. Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred.
