I have created a SANM policy to filter and include only SM_Service alerts so
that only alerts for the Service generate an email alert.

I have a Service defined as Exchange, it has several sub-services. One of
these subservices has a process being monitored. When this process alerts, the
top level Service called Exchange shows a Major alarm. This in turn generates
an email alert for Exchange indicating Exchange is degraded but here is where
the problem comes in, that alert tells me that Exchange is alerting but does
not include any additional information as to what sub-component is the cause.
How can I incorporate this sub-component that is the cause into the SM_Service
alert without generating a secondary email alert for the sub-component?

I can loosen up my SANM policy filter to generate an additional email alert for
this sub-component, but that defeats the purpose of receiving one alert for the
Service. Even if I did, this additional alert would not indicate it belongs to
the SM_Service Exchange. So I must determine how to incorporate this
information into the one SM_Service alert. Has anyone done this before and can
point me in the right direction?

Thank you,

Christopher
