Hello, normally I use the root user to start the installation script. During the installation/update you can set a normal user (the spec-user). The installation runs with root access rights and during the install, all files (except of the lib directory) should chown to the entered spec-user.

Hi We have a debate with CA Support engineer….. here is the case, I have installed Spectrum over RH and Solaris, but I always have done it using Root user to install it, so a coworker has this problem he had installed Spectrum over solaris using root , and launch spectroserver using specuser and works fine, but when he opens admin web page and tries to open any tab, administration etc. it shows that there is a missing path in order to work, so here is the doubt CA support says we need to install Spectrum using specuser user… are they correct??? Please advice. Thanks in advance. Oscar Longinos Consultant T Monitor S.A. de C.V. Insurgentes Sur 1898, Piso 12 C.P. 01020, México D.F.
