This might help, the long OID number string actually spells out what windows service/application responsible for the trap.
http://www.chapelhill.homeip.net/horton/publications/HowToGenerateSNMPtrapsFromWindowsEvents.html Also there is an actual sample MIB to show you the MIB syntax if you want to pursue. I'm trying to do the same thing, Spectrum complains about the syntax, something is missing or incorrect in the example MIB when trying to load it in MIB Tools. In the old NSM Event manager Console days, this was very easy, you could see the RAW trap and create a policy to match against. I wish this simple but very powerful feature was included in Spectrum. Then it would really gain market share since it would be very painless to integrate any SNMP trap very quickly. Speaking of MIBS, I would like to know if anyone knows of a Spectrum community that is willing to share XML/MIB/etc.... Integrations and customizations for Spectrum device management. I have seen the good ones out there, just nothing ever posted for examples or known MIB integrations, would be very useful to all. Here is the link to the sample MIB I found: http://www.networkcircus.com/articles/20050715.html -----Original Message----- From: edgar parra [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2010 5:55 PM To: spectrum Cc: spectrum Subject: Re: [spectrum] windows event to trap translator Hello Patrick, I have used event to trap translator in the past, and it is a very useful tool to easily convert event into traps. however, what do u mean by "default system trap settings"? I configured before traps from SQL Server databases, or specific windows events, but never heard of the trap you mentioned. This event is related to what specifically? regards, Eng.
