Hello,

you can add the following lines to the ressource files (.vnmrc, .configrc) to
get more informations:

strace=true

ctrace=true

The ctrace flag causes Spectro Server, Archive Manager to output communication
information.

The strace flag causes Spectro Server, Archive Manager to output security
information.

It should also work to add these options to the idb files:

ARGV;$SPECROOT/SS/DDM/ArchMgr<CSEXE> -starce -ctrace;

Regards

Andreas

Subject: RE: [spectrum] Archive Manager debugging

I'm looking for tips with Archive manager debugging.
We have a server that is losing connection with the archive manager a few times
a week.
It happened today

Major Alarm created today at 12:52:43 - The SpectroSERVER cannot connect to or
has lost contact with the Archive Manager

Alarm cleared at 14:14:02 - The SpectroSERVER has connected to the Archive
Manager

For info-
I had already set the Archive manager to restart in the ARCHMGR.idb file as
follows-
AUTORESTART;Y;

I'd also set the db to repair automatically in the .configrc by adding-
AUTO_REPAIR_DB=TRUE

And i'd increased the max table size by adding-
TWO_GIGS=4294967295

and PAE is enabled in the boot.ini

The SS and OneClick are on the same physical server.

I had hoped there would be something written to the VNM.OUT or ARCHMGR.OUT log
files in the event the archive manager restarts. But the last time the VNM.OUT
or ARCHMGR.OUT was written to was the 21st Sep when the SS was last restarted.
Is there something more i can enable to find out why it loses connection? or is
there some other log file i should be looking at?

Secondly. Any idea why it took so long to restart when it restarts
automatically? Is it some kind of scheduled check period? If so, is it
configurable? (I'm assuming if it had been corrupt it would have been
logged...?)
