Hi Brad,

Here is an exerpt from a how-to I wrote for a customer:

Cisco Router, Switch, and Firewall devices log many internal events in
the device's system log, or syslog. Depending upon device configuration,
these syslog events may be sent to Spectrum using traps.

Spectrum uses the values of three trap variables to map the trap to a
Spectrum Event ID. These mappings are contained in three text files on
the SpectroServer:

$SPECROOT/SS/CsVendor/Cisco_Router/Rtr.txt

$SPECROOT/SS/CsVendor/Ctron_CAT/Switch.txt

$SPECROOT/SS/CsVendor/CiscoPIX/Pix.txt

These text files have the following internal fields, separated by
spaces:

1. An abbreviated classification, for example RCMD or SNMP

2. A Cisco severity level, a digit from 0 to 4

3. An abbreviated text description, for example AUTHFAIL

4. A Spectrum Event ID

For example:

CDP 4 DUPLEXMISMATCH 0x011c0214

Duplex Mismatch syslog events were being mishandled or classified as
unknown syslog events by Spectrum; proper handling has been corrected or
implemented.

Add or change the following lines in file
$SPECROOT/SS/CsVendor/Cisco_Router/Rtr.txt

CDP 4 DUPLEX_MISMATCH 0x011c0214

Add or change the following lines in file
$SPECROOT/SS/CsVendor/Ctron_CAT/Switch.txt

CDP 4 DUPLEX_MISMATCH 0x011c0214

Further information about the configuration of these text files can be
found in CA Spectrum manual #5127, titled Cisco Applications User Guide.

Subject: [spectrum] Monitoring for Duplex Mismatches

Greetings all,

Is anyone using Spectrum 9.1 to monitor for duplex mismatches? I know
I've seen alarms for duplex mismatches in older versions of Spectrum,
but cannot find one in 9.1. Am I overlooking something?

Kind regards,

Brad
