Hi, I'm using same procedure.
And if DB is increasing quickly, maybe, something's happening!!! Probably you have some devices generating a lot of events (lot of traps?). You should check that. In spectrum 8.x there was a tool to optimize reporting database ($SPECROOT/bin/RpmgrOptimizeDatabase). But it was drop!!! Don't know why. I think it was a useful tool to remove old data. Regards.
