I have thousands of hosts and I don't have your issues using Spectrum
9.2 H04. There are so many things that can cause what you are seeing
starting with the client computer. For example: I am not trying to
answer your question but to get you thinking about all of the aspects of
your issue.

Does your pc have enough RAM?

How fast is the processor on your pc?

What version of Java are you using?

What other apps are running on your computer?

On your OC server:

Is it a dedicated OC server or is it a SpectroServer/OC/InfoView server?

How many users are on your OC system at any one time?

How much RAM does your OC have?

You can adjust the amount of RAM that the OC Web Server has from the
Admin page on the OC server.

You can adjust the amount of Memory the for the clients on the Admin
page on the OC server. (Too much is an issue as well)

Here is another good test to separate the issue out:

I have a Windows OC server and a RedHat SpectoServer with OC as well. I
have the users go to the Windows OC server and that is what you want
however if you see that what you are doing is slow on the Windows OC
server you can go directly to the RedHat SpectroServer OC and see if you
get the same results. I did that and found out right away that the
problems was with my Windows server. It could literally be so many
things even a poorly performing dynamic Global Collection that is set to
real time update and some attribute that is getting hammered so the
thing just thrashes.

One other issue is if you are getting a lot of Cisco Reconfiguration
Alarms it will cause a modeling frenzy that could mean adding new hosts
either manually or thru discovery is delayed or never completes.

I think your best bet is to open a support case and they have some
performance tests (some short and some long) that they run that will
lead them to the area that is slow. If you don't have support then you
are about to venture into a time consuming process.

Thanks,

Subject: RE: [spectrum] OneClick edit speed

I mentioned to a CA person a few weeks ago about not being impressed
with Spectrum OneClick responsiveness. He informed me there is a CA
internal project team currently investigating the issue.

I am not exactly sure what they are looking at or when they expect a
faster OneClick to be released though.
