FYI - Job opening in Garland, Texas. Currently using Spectrum, but rumors
say HP's Network Node Manager is coming.
Network engineer will be responsible for the design, installation,
management, troubleshooting, and documentation for development, test and
operational networks in a high bandwidth computer system / storage /
network infrastructure. Job responsibilities include operations and
maintenance support to various large to small classified networks,
ensuring network and configuration management, system and network
security and the high availability of the systems and data, installation
and upgrading switch operating systems and interface drivers, managing
and configuring network interfaces, network monitoring applications and
associated equipment and research and evaluation of network related tools
and emerging network technologies.
This network engineer will be a team member of the IT team providing all
aspects of network services to assigned program areas. This engineer
will work closely with the server and desktop teams to troubleshoot and
resolve problems and support new server and network hardware
infrastructures.
Requirements:
2+ years of technical experience as network engineer or computer
systems engineer; tasks to include system administration of system
security software patches and upgrades.
Existing SSBI and/or Top Secret security clearance
Familiarity with implementation and configuration of a network node
management product.
Familiarity with maintenance, analysis and diagnostics of Cisco
switches / routers or x86 based servers.
Good communication skills are necessary to document work based on
customer, project and architectural needs.
Must be able to work as part of a team and support program leaders,
engineering, program managers and customers.
Willing and able to provide Pager (on-call) support as needed.
Must be willing and able to support after hour maintenance windows
support on evenings or weekends on occasional basis as needed
Willing and able to travel on occasion to customer facilities as
needed.
Desired Skills:
Experience with VISIO drawing package and network management is
highly desirable.
Experience with HP Openview is highly desirable.
Domain knowledge of classified networks and computer / network
security is highly desirable.
Experience with configuration and management of Cisco switches is
highly desirable.
Design and implementation experience with Brocade Fibre channel and
large SANs is a plus.
Security + Certification desirable
Required Education (including Major):
B.S. in Engineering or related field is required or equivalent
combination of education and experience (8 yrs experience = BS degree).
