Were managing a variety of these for different customers. But Spectrum is really limited in how it models/manages them.
Issues that should really be resolved in some future release: 1) No correlation of sub-contexts to system contexts if modelled separately. Ideally, one should be able to model the system contexts, then all sub contexts should auto-model under that chassis (with the virtual hazing around the model icon, as they are in effect virtual firewalls) 2) NCM requires custom scripts, none come out of the box. If modelled as per point 1 above, wed only need to have access to the system context, then ch context could be used to grab each config and assign to the relevant context model. 3) No concept of redundant active/standby pairs. Perhaps model by the virtual IP, and have the standby unit as a sub-model. A critical alarm asserting when the primary fails. Theres scope for some really good monitoring there if only someone could code it into Spectrum! Listed ASA are enhanced supported by spectrum that sometimes, means no much. I would suggest to activate trap support to get as much information as you may need from these type of devices. I am wondering if anyone does this now and what can be managed via Spectrum. If any documentation is available online, I would be grateful.
