We need to run some external checks against certain devices and hosts.
Specifically, at least for now, we need to run a check that makes an HTTP
connection, checks for a page, and alerts if it doesn't get the expected
response.

Since Spectrum can't handle that natively (to my knowledge), how does everyone
generally handle that kind of thing?

Run an external script that traps to Spectrum? IP SLA from a network device?
Separate monitoring tool (like BigBrother, Hobbit/Xymon, Nagios, etc.)? Is it
something SystemEDGE can do? Something else?

There's a good chance we'll have to ramp this up to include additional checks
in the not too distant future.

Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions.
