This won't help you now that the device has already reindexed but it will
help for the future.

Alternatively get the systems managers to update the ifAlias for the
interface with some data identifying the interface as important for a
service and then use that for the search criteria for monitoring. Then if
the device reindexes the interfaces it won't affect the monitoring.

No, that's the weird thing, there hasn't been a physical hardware change on
the 7200 in question for years. The only thing that did happen last fall was
that we went from encapsulating frame-relay on a point to point subinterface
on the serial to get to Verizon to just encapsulating against the interface
itself and then removed the subinterface. Other than that, nothing major
other than day to day administration.

Dave,

The only thing I can think of: Was there an ISO or hardware change?

Subject: [spectrum] Model name/number ID Changed on Router Interface

All,

I have a router that for years, had a serial interface that Spectrum had
modeled as RouterName_2. Somewhere along the line and unbeknownst to me, the
interface name changed to RouterName_4. That had the unfortunate byproduct
of invalidating a SANM rule that I had to alert me when it went offline.

Anyone see this before and what the cause of it might be? Thanks in advance
