 The MLS is the main communication hub in the landscape map - every SS-to-SS 
communication passes through it.
While you're right that no much disk space would be required for the 
SSdB/DDMDB, the CPU load might not be so light. I'd make sure that there a 
minimum of proxy models so any event correlation would be reduced to a minimum. 
If you're using Service Manager - i.e. actually define services - on the MLS, 
this would add an extra CPU time to the SS, proportional to the size of the SM 
implementation.
