I've just tried it (9.2.3) and it seems to work as I suggested it would.
I first set a minor alarm on a device and noted that the Condition_Value is 1
and Condition is Minor (1). A short while later I created an event set to
create a "normal" alarm.
The device stayed yellow and the "normal" alarm information was displayed in
the Notifier window. The Condition_Value stayed 1 and Condition stayed at Minor
(1).

A side note is that there is actually a "normal" alarm raised. If you set the
alarm filter to show alarms of severity "normal" then you will see the alarm
there. If you don't went these alarms hanging round then you will need to do
some cleanup in the background.

I have done that testing in the past with 9.1 environment and not sure if
things have changed from past.

Experts correct me if I am wrong - I believe what happens is this, when you
explicitly set the condition/severity of the Event to Normal the
Condition_Value of the device will drop to 0 and that will change the color of
the device to Green.

I haven't tried it but I wouldn't have thought so because I would expect the
higher criticality alarm to take precedence. It should behave the same as if
you have a major alarm on a device and a minor alarm comes in. In that case the
device stays orange.

Have you tried it and seen that is the case?

There is a disadvantage of using Normal severity (alarm level), because if
there are preexisting alarms on the device, then the condition of the device
will be changed to normal which does not reflect the correct condition.

Too right; I haven't managed a Spectrum build-out in a while, so I had
forgotten. Thanks for catching my mistake. Have a good one, and keep spreading
the love of self-healing datacenter through the use of SANM+Expect-scripts.

David
I think you meant alarm level of Normal rather than None. If it's none then no
alarm is created hence SANM doesn't kick in.

I hadn't thought of that before but just tried it and it works. Pure genius :-)

The easiest way would be to modify the event to have an alarm level of "None",
and then use SANM to bind it to a SetScript/ClearScript.

Subject: [spectrum] Call a script after a trap is received

Hello all,

Is there a way to execute a script after a trap is received from EventDisp file
itself.

I do not want to raise alarm from the device model and then through Alarm
Notifier run the script.

Thanks,
