Hi Dan,
Not Netcool, but had the same problem with another integrated product a few
years ago where the concept of Spectrum's symptom alarms wasn't supported
by it. i.e. the product's CORBA interface into Spectrum ignored the alarm
attrs to do with symptom and root cause (at that time).

What we did was "flag" the symptom alarms to the other product in a way it
could understand, in this case by detecting any Symptom alarms in a
Notifier script (Cause count attr not equal to "0") and acknowledging them
right there.

Then in Netcool you could just hide ack'd alarms from view if you want.
Might not suit you to hide all ack'd alarms from users in your Netcool
filters but that's what we did!

Cheers
Dan.
