Kavi,
From our experience here, the vendors tend to sent SNMP TRAPs when fans
or
power supplies fail. They will also send "ok" TRAPs when things are working ok.

There are usually MIB variables you can poll, sometimes directly
from OneClick such as for cisco routers ( Component detail screen, Information
tab,
Cisco Environment Monitor Information menu). Older Enterasys gear shows similar
information and it is available on the new gear from the Environment MIB. I
don't know
why Spectrum didn't pick up on that.

All that being said, you will still want the ability to poll the gear.
Case in point: Switch running with redundant power supplies each fed from a
separate UPS.
The building looses power and the UPSs go onto battery.
Eventually one UPS will drain its battery so shuts down.
You will get a power supply failure TRAP from the switch causing an alarm.
The second UPS drains its battery and it shuts down.
Spectrum will generate a red "contact lost" alarm.
Power is restored and both UPSs and power supplies come online; the switch
reboots.
The contact lost alarm is cleared.
The power supply failed alarm REMAINs but it is now not true.

You will need to manually clear that alarm preferably after asking the switch
if everything is OK.

        Hope that helps!
        James

Hi Kavi,

in <SPECROOT>/SS-Tools/ there is a utility named LogPollAnalyser

If you execute it, it gives you a list of the number of models and the attributes beeing polled on a model type basis.

    Hi All,

Does spectrum identifies Power supply and Fan status faults during normal
polling cycle or we need to create a watcher for this.

Is it possible to get the list of parameters monitored by spectrum during
polling.

    Thanks,
    Kavi
