Thank you Al for your suggestion. It is a good idea but monitoring team can have limited number of columns in their monitor and adding a new column cause to remove another column and also the information which is supposed to be added in “Note” field can consist of several lines that can’t be shown in alarm tab easily.

This is the file we’ll need to reference in our modified file. Note the path following WEB-INF. In this case, alarm/config. We will need to place our modified file in $SPECROOT/custom/alarm/config in order to have the changes take effect. Create a new file in the $SPECROOT/custom tree with the same name as the table file being modified, in this case $SPECROOT/custom/alarm/config/alarm-table-config.xml. The new file will reference the old file with the idref =tag and then include the new information desired: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <table idref="alarm-table-config"> <column-list> <column> <tooltip>Notes from device info page</tooltip> <hidden-by-default>true</hidden-by-default> <default-width>65</default-width> <name>Notes</name> <content> <attribute>0x11564</attribute> </content> </column> </column-list> </table> Re-login to the OneClick Server (a re-start of the OneClick server is not needed). You should then be able to add the ‘Notes’ field to the Alarms view From: Fereydoon Mallahikarai [mailto:fmallahika...@primustel.ca] Sent: Tuesday, October 04, 2016 10:30 AM To: spectrum Subject: RE: [spectrum] Alarm recommended action Thank you Cesar for your comment. If I want to explain it briefly, I want a “Note” being shown in alarm details of ALL the alarms which are being generated by “Router1”. I can add this note in “Information” tab of the device but as the monitoring team just look at the “Alarm Details” tab when an alarm occurs, I just wanted to know if there is any easier solution than modifying all the events that Router1 is supposed to trigger by its traps. Thank you, Regards, Fereydoon From: Guzman, Cesar [mailto:cesar.guz...@xo.com] Sent: Tuesday, October 04, 2016 10:19 AM To: spectrum Subject: RE: [spectrum] Alarm recommended action Ferey, I don’t think I understand the question. You say that Router1 is modeled in Spectrum and receives traps from it. When you get a trap event that is mapped to an alarm it has a PCause file associated with that alarm and the Recommended Actions is in that file. Let us use Link Down as an example. That trap comes from Router1 in to Spectrum. Spectrum will find the Event that belongs to this trap and if it is an alarm (which it is) Spectrum will grab the PCause file associated with that event from the EventDisp file. And now you have a BAD LINK DETECTED alarm in Spectrum for Router1. So you want to add additional information on the Recommended Actions of the PCause files for that Link Down? If this is the case then you would have to go through each Event and create a rule that sends it to another custom event with a different PCause file with info you want to add. That way it will be preserved with future upgrades. But it is a lot of work if you want to modify a bunch of alarms. Hope it answers your question. Now beside the recommended action which each alarms has, i want to add an extra and same comment for any alarm that is being generated by model A in Spectrum. Any suggestion? Thank you.
