Hi all,
When I went from 9.2, I went directly to 10.2.0 skipping 10.1 and have
not seen
as many issues that you are seeing. I am however running on Solaris 10, which
has a different set of problems, like running SRM with CABI/BOXI and not the new
database engine, which doesn't like Solaris.
I have however, seen a memory leak when running a reasonably large
AutoDiscover.
The problem is in the modeling process and you can't get it to stop...
It just won't stop until it aborts due to memory usage, or it is killed with a
KILL -9.
So, maybe the solution is to get to version 10.2.2, which was just
announced.

Patrick,
same here – we have seen all kinds of behavior in terms of Fault
Tolerance functioning and not functioning. As long as we are still on
10.1.1, I try to have an eye on the SpectroServer’s and ArchMgr’s memory
allocation which seems to be some kind of indication that something is
about to go wrong. A proactive reboot of the primary SS helps keep the
environment healthy.

HI Christian,
I don’t know about hardware being an issue, but we have had a similar
problem with 10.1.1 getting a segmentation violation and DB crashing.
And to make matters worse when this occurs the Fault-Tolerant server
does not pick up on this and it never fails over, leaving our Spectrum
down until someone catches it manually and has to reload the db and
restart the primary. I have an open case on this now.

*Subject:* [spectrum] Hardware for SPECTRUM 10.2+ on RHEL 7
Hi all,
I am challenged to migrate SPECTRUM 10.1.1 running on an Oracle T4-1 in
a Solaris 10 LDOM to a VMware VM with RHEL 7 on an Intel platform. I am
sure there will be no problems with the OS or the virtualization
whatsoever. Nevertheless, I am being a little cautious in terms of
hardware issues – while my current Solaris box was never a problem for
CA and, with SPECTRUM 9.x, even preferred over a T2 or T3 driven machine
(see https://support.ca.com/us/knowledge-base-articles.TEC593037.html
<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__support.ca.com_us_knowledge-2Dbase-2Darticles.TEC593037.html&d=DwMF-g&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=NdrKMkLuNhLY2b_fF19DTw&m=dIqNbKdrt44iOow7On2s5sEHNmQ4Z2cSxpwC8xFckCw&s=h3p849skEAhcHztHn2uJXCxjwiNLgHPjFrQou0H6puA&e=>),
it seems that there are memory allocation problems (which, frankly, do
not affect any of my other LDOMs, only the primary SpectroSERVER) that
lead to CA refusing full support for performance problems we are facing
with SPECTRUM 10.1.1. In particular, we have to restart our environment
from time to time with weird side effects like corrupted SSDb (Stopping
SS doesn’t work due to missing memory), thus the need to restore a
backup which of course lacks the buffered events that were about to be
written to DDMDb as soon as the stalled ArchMgr would work again… etc. pp.
We intend to buy Cisco UCM machines as a base for ESXi 6 – more
precisely, UCM C240-M4 boxes (see
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c240-m4-rack-server/index.html
<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.cisco.com_c_en_us_products_servers-2Dunified-2Dcomputing_ucs-2Dc240-2Dm4-2Drack-2Dserver_index.html&d=DwMF-g&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=NdrKMkLuNhLY2b_fF19DTw&m=dIqNbKdrt44iOow7On2s5sEHNmQ4Z2cSxpwC8xFckCw&s=RWQgr_QwtlHsvNmycmG90jS80o5AO-4mpeJh11GffW0&e=>).
We already use those for our CUCM environment. I assume we are less
likely to be faced with an issue in the Intel world compared to Sparc,
nevertheless I appreciate any input from the community in regards to
possible problems somebody might have already faced with this particular
hardware platform.
