Hi guys (and guyesses ...) :D Many great things have been said about the WC in Orlando and i agree with what has been said. It's amazing to see so many fast cubers when there is about zilch (nil) in Norway taking cubing seriously. 12 guys in the final without Lars Vandenbergh or Ron van Bruchem or Joël van Noort in it. Well, that looks weird to me ... hehehe ... And a bunch of world and national records were set.
But im not really too happy with the organisation of the event. My main complaints are : - should be outdoor to provide fairness and better atmosphere for the contestants - poor result service, not very good use of the large monitor provided ... no info about "side events" - discrimination of the "side events" - non rubiks puzles, and also dicrimination of these as only the winners were called, not 3rd, 2nd and 1st like for the other events - very bad conditions for fewest moves, first day inside in a small room, second day even worse ... outside sitting by a small table only ... also first day the scramble was not provided on a sheet like second day ... and i really hope we can use stickers next time ... i always end up with cycles in the end .. with no stickers i can't optimise anything :-( ... i gonna propose changes to the rules fo fewest moves :-) Ok, now for some positive feedback. I spoke to Dave Hedley Jones. I suggested some improvments for the 5x5x5 cube. And actually they are now doing some re-engineering, so now is a good time to come up with ideas for improving their puzzles :-) I will send Dave an email to remind him and then we will see how it goes ... It was really great to see the faces behind all the names that i knew beforehand :-D Cheers! -Per ------------------------ Yahoo!
