The thing that bothers me the most is that the tiles for the magics are not the same thickness.
I inadvertently used two magics of different tile thickness to make my master magic, which is why it hardly ever lays flat when solved (unless I take a few seconds to work it flat). I got a DNF and a very close but still ok solve at RWC because of this. For us do it yourselfers who don't want to, and can't afford to, buy a master magic on eBay, can we at least petition rubiks.com to either standardize the tile thickness, or sell blank tiles (again standardized to the same size) so that we can make our own? I don't think they will reinstate the magic DIY kit. Mr. Rubik has requested that it not be sold anymore (I was told this when I was buying strings from rubiks.com). Also, and I hate to be mean, but I think the cubesmith price of $6 for a bag of 16 strings is ridiculous. If you need magic strings write to the people at rubiks.com. They have been selling bags of 16 strings to me for $2 a bag for the past couple months. Anyway, is there a way that we can get the tiles standardized so that do it yourselfers, who now can't buy a DIY kit, can make our own? Or do I have to resort to eBay if I want to continue to compete in the master magic? Chris ------------------------ Yahoo!
